Marine Machines.

From reference! You wouldnt know it since the photo of the marines face is completely different : (. I gotta stop habitually going 'eyes go here... nose goes here... Ill just draw the same mouth shape i draw on everything else.

Some things i discovered while doodling this for fun!

-I have very little clue about translating shades and tones - I'm predictably bad at picking the right shades of grey.
-I need to work a HELL of a lot on caricature and capturing likeness.
-Closer to realising how much more i really really need to draw and paint.
-Finally, war is very very lame.

And heres an old doodle that i've always liked for some reason! For those living under a rock, its world of warcraft fan art. What a fucking lamer you are Kneal.

EDIT! : A good friend David Ogilvie and I are doing a small comic project, 16 pages, 8 pages each. Its really to get us off our bums to actually create... well, something! Its a good opportunity to flex our drawing muskles, and just learn some things and practise.

I have a short story (part of a long epic huge saga in my head *cough bullshit cough*) simmering around in my head, and i should have some concepts / character designs / environments up within the next, month? Hopefully anyway!

Pwoar an image!

I discovered a chap named David Levy in a Photoshop magazine while in Hong Kong, and a couple pieces of his inspired me to do this...

I realised that the period of my life where I improved the most in drawing, was when I was copying my favourite pictures out of weekly BUGS / DINOSAURS magazines. Lately I've been real hard on myself, and in my head, I should be at a stage where I can produce something good on my own! Man up! You're 21 now, no excuse, etc. So I'm trying my best to expel these thoughts, and just get back to why i started drawing in the first place. For fun, getting inspired, copying styles and developing my own. There is no doubt in my mind that copying those cartoon bugs (those magazines were awesome) and comic books made be better, on my own.

So this piece was sort of a spring board maybe (although Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, and Team Fortress 2 are the ceiling fan directly above it)? It wasn't a direct copy of course, but i definately got alot from Levy when doing it. Was really good practise and made me feel like arting again. So thanks David.

Oh yer, the image is actually for a friend of mines band's, album cover. Maybe.
